Driver Rehabilitation and Training at Driving Academy of NWA

DRS Comprehensive Evaluation (4 hrs.)  »  $500

This Comprehensive Driving Evaluation by our Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS) is for individuals who have a disability or who have experienced a traumatic event, an illness, a disease, or age-related impairments that might affect safety while driving. This complete evaluation of an individual's driving knowledge, skills, and abilities will include (1) medical and driving history; (2) clinical assessment of sensory/perceptual, cognitive, and psychomotor functional abilities; (3) on-road assessment, as appropriate, using one of our Driving Academy of NWA vehicles; (4) an outcome summary; and (5) recommendations for an inclusive mobility plan, including transportation options, such as a training plan, a referral, or a report.

DRS Training with Equipment Starter Package  »  $500

This 5-hour package includes two 1.5-hour driving lessons with the needed equipment in our vehicle, and two hours for the final fitting and training in the client's newly modified vehicle.  The client must demonstrate to the CDRS safe driving performance with the equipment in our modified vehicle in a variety of conditions and environments before the CDRS will write a prescription for the client's own vehicle to be modified by a NMEDA Quality Assurance Program certified dealer.  The client must then demonstrate to the CDRS safe driving performance in their newly-modified vehicle in order for the client to be given a passing report of successful training.  This report will also be sent to the treating physician and therapist.

DRS In-Car Only Evaluation (2 hrs.)  »  $300

"Return to Driving" In-car Evaluation by our Driver Rehabilitation Specialist is for drivers who have experienced a traumatic event, illness, disease, or aging that has caused the driver to cease driving or has caused the driver, family, or physician to question his or her ability to drive safely and has already completed a clinical driving assessed by an OT/DRS or a PT/DRS.   The final report will be faxed to the referring OT/DRS or PT/DRS and the prescribing physician.
